All Catholics believe in the resurrection of Jebus into a zombie who flew up to the clouds. That's just plain stupid and no belief could possibly be more crazy, therefore all Catholics are idiots.

Also, are there any Catholics in the world who don't teach their children Jebus was a god-man? Probably not. Lying to children is child abuse, therefore all Catholics (and Christians and Muslims and religious Jews) are stupid assholes.

They might be nice people most of the time, but there's no excuse for brainwashing gullible children. They deserve nothing but contempt and ridicule, no matter how moderate they think they are.

Also, everyone who believes there's a magic fairy hiding in the clouds is insane. The fact that millions believe this bullshit doesn't make it any less idiotic.

Anyone who isn't an atheist has something seriously wrong with them. The magic fairy belief is a very serious mental illness. Claiming that some religious people are not nuts is sucking up to the religious insanity that is good for nothing but violence, genocide, ignorance, and misery.

I heard a research piece on public radio the other day (Fresh Air July 14th) - Ryan Lizza. The content is oddly different from the parallel New York article (7/21/2008).
From the interview, here’s the deal with Obama. He’s in Chicago, running around to churches, doing the get out the vote thing, and one of the preachers (or more than one) asks which church HE belongs to. And one (or more) suggests he’ll be more successful with his efforts if he actually belongs to one of the churches (at 16:28 and FROM HIS BOOK). So the man goes home, does some soul searching, and bing bang boom, Jeebus shows up at his door. Nice coincidence, given Obama’d have no chance to be “the big man” without Jeebus. So is he a “real Christian” or a Christian by necessity?

Other very interesting tidbit in the story - Michelle is BGFs with Jesse Jackson’s daughter Santita (who is now godmother to their daughter)(at 11:55). So BO and JJ KNOW each other. So what the hell with all the “name calling”?

What's with people? Why would you "follow" this guy? I can sort of imagine believing in god almighty, creator of all things - but spending your time "following" a guy who healed people by going into a trance after reading a letter? And prolific use of castor oil?

I met a lovely, lovely homeschooler a few months back. She was telling me that there's this approach to homeschooling - telling the kids that the world is abundant. And that she had decided she would teach her kids that the world is "sufficient". So I get back from the conference where I met her, and there's this stream of conversations on the freethinking unschoolers group about this person Sandra Dodd and the message of abundance. And now, today, I run into this term again. And I find that it may well be some kind of code for some kind of crazy shit.

Totally unrelated topic. I saw this on a car in my office parking lot today. I almost copied my printout of the noodly last supper (posted discretely in my office) and slipped it under the windshield wiper, but ended up being too busy working. I need to get one of these things and start witnessing to my true faith.

In response to a crazy "hypothetical" post about kids not being allowed to learn about hinduism from hindu gram and gramps because the xian parents don't want them "indoctrinated" in Hinduism, I wrote this:

If a child's christian faith is something they can be indoctrinated out of, then how can it be "the truth"? Only by seeing the real world, and choosing your path, can you be a TRUE follower of whatever faith you select.

But, of course, I spelled choosing wrong, so now I look like an idiot.

We cannot convince believers that God does not exist, and they cannot convince "us" that God does exist. So we can stop trying.

But we can be good neighbors, and good citizens of the earth. So for today, that's what I'll do.
